Alcaraz became just the third Spanish ever to win a singles title at the Centre Court and what better than beating a man who has for the last 5 years remained undefeated? This comeback win of 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 will take Alcaraz way ahead of Djokovic in the ATP World rankings which are set to be updated on Monday and will spice up the US Open which is scheduled to take place in September.

Novak Djokovic after losing out to an inexperienced Carlos Alcaraz had a lot of things to say in his post-match press conference. Carlos lacked game time on grass having won only one trophy in just the last month at the Queen’s. Everyone was hoping the Spaniard could finally dethrone Novak and so it did happen with the Serbian all in praise of his opponent. “Yeah, grass, I must say he surprised me. He surprised everyone how quickly he adapted to grass this year,” said Djokovic.

He added, “He hasn’t had too many wins on grass in the last two years that he played. Obviously, him coming from clay, having the kind of style that he has. I think Queen’s helped him a lot. Wimbledon courts are slower than Aorangi courts or maybe Queen’s courts. It’s more suitable for I guess the baseliners like he is.” Novak will not be wary of the youngster who has climbed up many points above him in the ATP World rankings.
