At the tender age of 11, Carlos Alcaraz’s younger brother Jaime Alcaraz is already making waves on the tennis scene. Jaime recently won the Madrid event of the Rafa Nadal Tour event. By doing so, he replicated his brother, World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz’s achievements at the same event back in 2016. Alcaraz had won the U-14 event at the same venue that year.

Born in 2011, Jaime was seeded 4th for the Madrid event in the U-12 category. He managed to win the title after playing two epic three-setters in his semifinal and final matches.

The Rafa Nadal Tour is a junior tennis event series that began in 2014 as an initiative of Rafael Nadal‘s foundation. It is held annually and consists of seven tournaments held in various places throughout Spain. It is exclusively for children in the under-12, under-14, and under-16 age groups. The tour includes tournaments in Alicante, Barcelona, Gran Canaria, Madrid, Seville, and Valldoreix-Barcelona. Top performers in the overall event are due to be invited to Nadal’s academy in Mallorca to compete in a year-ending ‘Masters’ event.

The tour has unearthed a lot of Spanish tennis talent, the most notable example of which is Jaime’s elder brother Carlos.

Jaime has regularly featured on Carlos’ player’s box during his important matches. He has even rallied with some of the best players on tour, including World No. 8 Jannik Sinner.

While not unknown before his win at Madrid thanks to a bunch of his practice clips which went viral earlier this year, Jaime will definitely attract more comparisons to his elder brother following his achievement. It is safe to say, however, that the 11-year-old still has a long way to go before competing against his brother Carlos on the tour.

Carlos has spoken much praise of his brother in the past, including saying that the younger Alcaraz has the better forehand between the two. It was also recently brought to light by Carlos that it is not him that brother Jaime idolizes, but former World No. 3 and US Open champion Dominic Thiem. Jaime even prefers using a racket from the Babolat Pure Strike series, which happens to be Thiem’s preference as well.

With that being said, the tennis world awaits what player the younger Alcaraz will turn out to be, and what other milestones the elder Alcaraz is set to achieve in his grand career.
