Carlos Alcaraz‘s coach, Antonio Cascales details the 19-year-old’s game and compares him with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Carlos had come off a serious injury and started his season in the Argentina Open. The Spaniard missed out on the first Grand Slam tournament of the year after having a sensational 2022. He won his first Grand Slam title by winning the U.S. Open and reached to world No.1 in the ATP rankings.

However, he attained full recovery and is currently playing in the Argentina Open. The top seed is now set to play Cameron Norrie in the finals and it will be a battle between the top two seeds. On this occasion, his coach Antonio Cascales spoke to the local media and broke down the teenager’s game in detail. He also further drew comparisons between him to Rafa and Roger.

Antonio Cascales, who is known for training Juan Carlos Ferrero and achieving the world number one spot with him in 2003, has now become the second trainer of the recent US Open champion, alongside his former protégé Carlos Alcaraz. During an interview with the Argentine daily La Nacion, Cascales was asked about Carlos’ qualification for the semi-finals of the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires.

In response, Cascales stated that Alcaraz’s game and style are more similar to Roger Federer than Rafael Nadal, who is often compared to Alcaraz, particularly in Spain. He further said “Carlos looks more like Roger Federer than Rafael Nadal, no doubt. He’s more like Federer in terms of creativity of the game. But then, in terms of attitude on the pitch, he’s a bit closer to Rafa, no doubt.”

Carlos Alcaraz makes it to the Argentina Open finals

Carlos Alcaraz, currently ranked second in the world, has made it to the final of the Argentina Open after a nearly four-month injury layoff. The Spaniard suffered an abdominal injury at the Paris Masters in November. But he has made a strong comeback, defeating Bernabe Zapata Miralles 6-2 6-2 in the semi-finals. Alcaraz is now set to face Britain’s Cameron Norrie in the title clash as he aims to win his first title of 2023.

Having won three out of four previous matches against Norrie, Alcaraz anticipates a challenging match against the British player in the ATP 250 clay court event final, scheduled for later on Sunday.
