Carlos Alcaraz’s wish gets fulfilled yet again as the French Open 2022 sides with the teen over Alexander Zverev

The French Open 2022 has chosen the night session for the first time and seems like they have a big challenge on their hands. The night matches are the most significant cash grab opportunity for the tournament broadcast, and so the organizers tend to keep the best matches at night. The condition of clay-courts changes significantly at night, and so many players are reluctant to play the night matches. But, given that the tickets for the night matches are the priciest, they take care to keep important matches at night.

Carlos Alcaraz, the stunning 18-year-old, has reached his maiden quarterfinal in his first Roland Garros appearance. Alcaraz faces world number 3, Alexander Zverev, in the quarterfinals, and he has already played two night matches, and a third night match in a row for the youngster might be an overkill. Alcaraz had said about the scheduling:

It wouldn’t seem fair to me, if we have to do things. I’ve already played twice in night session. I’m not saying that I mind playing late but the fact remains that you have less time to rest and everything ends very late. Because even if you finish at midnight, you have to look at everything behind it: dinner, physio and also the adrenaline of the match that does not allow you to fall asleep quickly. If I play a third time in a night session, it wouldn’t seem fair to me.”

Since the night matches are the priciest, it was right for the organizers to put the marquee Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic clash during the night session. Carlos Alcaraz got his wish of not playing a third night session in a row. His opponent Alexander Zvererv had already made his voice heard that the organizers would prefer to side with Carlos Alcaraz because he is what the audience wants to see more of.

Carlos Alcaraz had defeated Alexander Zverev very convincingly in the finals of the Mutua Madrid Open where Zverev again faced the disadvantage of not being well-rested before the match. This time the German would look to get his revenge on Alcaraz and prove to the world that he is not someone you can easily put on the sidelines.
