Obviously, it’s a great source of inspiration. During the week, we wrote to each other. I commented on one of her photos and we started to write to each other. I asked her what she had done in pool the year she won. She told me she had lost a match with a wink. It was funny. I am super proud to join Amélie. It’s always been a goal to win a Grand Slam, but let’s say it’s more concrete now (smile),” she said.

Caroline Garcia has joined the elite club of the season-finale prestigious tournament winners. She also breached into the Top 5 for the first time in her career.

Caroline Garcia in WTA Finals 2022

Caroline Garcia is thrilled to win the WTA Finals tournament. This was the second time when she qualified and got a chance to play in this prestigious competition. She first qualified in 2017 to play in the event. Last time around, she was able to win two matches and lost one match to advance into the semi-final round of the tournament. However, she eventually lost to Venus Williams 7-6, 2-6, 3-6.

This time she was much more determined and had a calm veneer which helped her to navigate through the pressures of the game and win important points at vital moments. She was drawn into the Tracy Austin Group with Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, and Daria Kasatkina.

She won both her matches against Gauff and Kasatkina, but lost to Swiatek. But this was enough to take her to the semi-finals. Here, she defeated Maria Sakkari of Greece in straight sets to storm into the final round. She defeated Aryna Sabalenka to clinch the title.
