As per Perret himself, Garcia is a big perfectionist who plays an aggressive brand of tennis. Her risky game style is one that usually accompanies errors, but she never likes to make any. In his words, “It was a long journey, she’s such a perfectionist girl. She’s professional, and it was a blast to work with her, but she’s maybe even too perfectionist. She didn’t accept making mistakes. With her risky game, if you don’t accept to make mistakes, you get frustrated

Perret also described what mindset she practices and how difficult it is to cope with the expectations. Continuing his train of thought, he further added, “You don’t have a type of game which is similar to (Sara) Sorribes Tormo or (Simona) Halep, you have a type of game where you take a lot of risks. If she wanted to get better in practice and not get frustrated in matches, Caroline needed to accept making mistakes.”

He also explained how did he try to help her to accept the mistakes, “It was not easy at the beginning, I had a hard time to make her understand that because she’s so perfectionist. I’m happy, now she sees things relatively a bit more. In a match, it’s okay even when there are some mistakes“.

29-year-old French Caroline Garcia is in the career highest ranking of 4 now. She reached the same rank way back in 2018 September as well. With 11 ATP singles titles and 7 doubles titles, including two Grand Slam titles up to her name, her best performance in Grand Slam singles is the semi-final appearance in the US Open 2022.

She is currently coached by her father Louis Paul and her first Grand Slam tournament was the 2011 Australian Open, where she received a wild card. She is always known for her aggressive style of the game and one who goes for her shots, not waiting for the opponent to make mistakes. With that being said, there is no denying the fact that this particular game style has made her one of the fan favorites in the entire WTA Tour.

Being ranked number 29 in doubles now, she is focusing more on the singles and the fruits of hard work she has been putting in over the years have finally come in the form of the WTA Finals title this season. The title run includes a victory over Polish World No.1 Iga Swiatek who looked almost unbeatable this season. With Garcia coming back to top form, the tennis world is expecting high-quality matches and new rivalries in the upcoming season.
