Another storm of arguments has started on Twitter. This time ignited by the returning star Caroline Wozniacki, who had compared the top 10 before she retired to the current top 10 on the WTA Tour. She also said that no one on the Tour could ever match the level at which Serena Williams was playing.
After announcing her retirement from tennis in 2021 due to a few personal reasons, including having been diagnosed with arthritis.
She made a comeback to the sport last year and hasn’t had much success until now, except for her Round of 16 exit at the US Open.
As she geared up for the 2024 Australian Open, the Dane revealed her thoughts on the top players and compared them to the iconic Serena Williams.
I think when Serena was on when she was playing her best tennis, I don't think anyone here would be able to beat her. I'm saying that with having played basically anyone on tour.Said Wozniacki to the Brisbane Press.
As per the tennis professional herself, the last time she was on the court, Serena was playing her best tennis, and the current top 10 stood no chance against her.
