Norwegian tennis ace Casper Ruud was left unhappy with the facilities at the 2024 Miami Open for players. During his second-round match against Luca Van Assche on Saturday, Ruud could be heard complaining to the chair umpire about the mistreatment of the players and the negligence of the organizers towards it.

Ruud was complaining about the absence of towels and cold water in the changing rooms. The Norwegian was also not happy about the plastic chair which the players had to settle with while changing the kit. He alleged that the tournament is ‘too cheap’ to do such things for the players.

There's been no towels, no cold water, and just a plastic chair to change. This is a joke. And you know why it is, because the tournament is too cheap to put up something good for the players. The players come here every year to play, to put on a show in front of tens of thousands of people and then they treat us like this.
Casper Ruud can be heard saying in a viral video on X.

Ruud accepted that it was not the chair umpire’s fault that there was a lack of amenities in one of the biggest tournaments on the tour.

Go to trailer for five minutes in a room with nothing and just a plastic chair to change. Maybe they can put some towels, maybe some cold water for the players' comfort. And it's not your fault. I'm just saying how bad it is.

Casper Ruud is not the only one troubled with the Miami

As Casper Ruud rightly pointed out, the conditions at the 2024 Miami Open are not-so-pleasing for the players. While Ruud has complained about the lack of facilities, a few players have suffered due to the extreme weather conditions.

A few days back, Arthur Cazaux fainted during his first-round match at the Miami Open qualifiers and had to be taken off the court in a wheelchair. Italian tennis ace Matteo Berrettini also faced the wrath of heat and humidity during his first-round match against Andy Murray.

The ATP star was seen grasping for breath in between the sets. Meanwhile, British tennis player Jack Draper vomited, with Stefanos Tsitsipas also visibly struggling to cope with the conditions in Miami.

Spanish tennis ace Carlos Alcaraz also mentioned the tough conditions after his win over Roberto Caraballes Baena in the second round.

It is to be seen if the organizers take any action after so many complaints or players will continue to suffer in these extreme conditions.
