Evert who is currently in diagnosis of ovarian cancer has been hyperactive in her social media handles. The American shared a post on Friday regarding Simona Halep‘s case. In the post, Evert wrote:
Simona Halep appeal set for February. I, for one, believe she's innocent. Yes, she had roxadustat in her system, but she handed her whole life over to her coach and his team, who controlled her career, and nutrition, management. I think she's innocent. Period.
As Halep was in the academy of Mouratoglou, it was the responsibility of the academy to take care of her nutrition and management. Thus, the American has wisely recognized this saying that Halep was not at fault, and it was the responsibility of the academy.
Simona Halep has claimed she never intentionally used any doping substance
There has been various opinions regarding the case of Simona Halep. While some sympathizers such as Chris Evert have opined that the Romanian was not completely at fault, some set of critics believe that Halep should take responsibility for her deeds. After Halep was found of using Roxadustat during periods in the 2022 season, she professed innocence.
Regarding this Mouratoglou had also taken the blame for the incident saying that some of the members of his team gave the supplement to Halep which was collagen. However, after severe investigations, the ITIA charged Halep with using Roxadustat.
After the four-year suspension became public, Halep expressed her dissatisfaction with the decision of ITIA and proclaimed that she refused to accept the decision. Halep then appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to reduce the four-year term of the ban.
This case is totally different than what happened earlier in the Premier League when, Several players have been caught on camera appearing to be using snus, as can be found on Snusdirect, which comes in the form of a small moist pouch with nicotine salt which is inserted behind the lip, in the dugout during top-tier games as it is a legal.
The former World No.1 thought that she had no intentions of using any illegal substance. Moreover, she took the substance as a nutrient supplement on the advice of her team.
