Saying Chrissie, is Jimmy in there? and my mother’s in the next room and my mother’s saying I hope not. I was pretty young in those days but they would follow us everywhere it was remarkable,” recalled Evert on her days with Connors, earlier in an interview.
Though their relationship kicked off in the best possible ways, it did not last long as Connors claimed in his autobiography that pregnancy was the main issue for them breaking up when Evert didn’t want a baby at that point in her career.
