In the post-match press conference, after defeating World No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas, Christopher Eubanks credited fellow American player Coco Gauff and former World No. 1 Naomi Osaka for providing his unwavering support throughout his tennis journey.

Eubanks, who is known for his powerful game on the court, acknowledged that the insights and tips he gained from both players have played a vital role in his gameplay. He further commented that they both believe that he belongs among the elite players of tennis. “I think the biggest thing is that it’s a common theme amongst both of them; they’ve been saying for a long time that they feel like I belong at this level,” said the 27-year-old American.

He disclosed that for quite some time, Gauff, in particular, has been a regular source of encouragement, reinforcing his ability at the highest level. Similarly, Naomi Osaka also echoed the idea, telling Eubanks that he possesses the required skills and temperament to prosper among the tennis elite.

That’s something Coco has been telling me for a long time. Naomi even says the same thing. That’s kind of been the main thing of just reinforcing and instilling confidence. ‘Hey, you can play at this level, you just got to believe it’”, he continued.

Christopher Eubanks’ thrilling three-hour victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas not only captivated tennis fans worldwide but also had his friends, Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka, fully invested in his achievement. Gauff and Osaka were hooked on the game as the young tennis prodigy was present during the match and Osaka watching from home while on maternity leave.

Gauff and Osaka both took to their Instagram accounts to express their joy for Eubanks. Despite Eubanks’ triumph, Osaka mocked him, commenting on his troubles towards the end of the match. Osaka wrote on her Instagram story, “You were shanking so much at the end, I got scared.”

On the other hand, Gauff was present during the match, cheering for a fellow American, and after Eubanks won the match, she posted a story congratulating him. Eubanks won the match in five thrilling sets, defeating the Greek player, and has reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. This is his first Wimbledon quarterfinal. The Americans will be facing Russian player Daniil Medvedev.
