Now that the season is finally coming to a close, several statistical facts are coming out, and one such statistic about players winning matches despite being underdogs in the match has been revealed.
Eubanks has been tied with Serbian tennis player Dusan Lajovic for sitting at the top of the list of underdog kings for 2023. Lajovic has been very influential this season, picking up wins in matches when the odds were completely against him. The biggest surprise that Lajovic pulled was against Novak Djokovic at the Srpska Open, a match where Lajovic only had 12% of winning the match.
This was the lowest win probability for a player in a match that he ultimately won in 2023. Lajovic went on to lift the title which was his second overall. Eubanks also had pulled some thrilling surprises mostly at the Wimbledon Championships.
In the second round, Eubanks only had a 24% chance of beating Cameron Norrie but did so easily, and then at the round of 16 stages, he ended up knocking down Stefanos Tsitsipas despite having a probability of 30%.
