The match on Thursday between top seed Carlos Alcaraz and the World No. 13, Tommy Paul is highly anticipated since Paul managed to beat the Spaniard not long ago at Toronto with an impressive 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 victory. The American is in great form and has achieved breakthrough success in his career this year.

The 26-year-old managed to reach the semi-finals of the Australian Open where he lost to this year’s tournament champion, Novak Djokovic. He also managed to defeat Serbian player Miomir Kecmanovic and Frenchman Ugo Humbert in a series of impressive straight set victories to make his way up the Cincinnati Masters.

Carlos Alcaraz too, must be longing for this opportunity and planning his revenge against Paul. The 20-year-old had tasted defeat at the hands of Paul days ago in the quarter-finals at Toronto, where Paul beat Alcaraz. Alcaraz, in his last match against Jordan Thompson, struggled a bit mid-match but ultimately managed to secure the win in three sets (7-5, 4-6, 6-3).

Both Alcaraz and Paul would be looking out to beat each other in the upcoming round. “It helps a little bit, but at the same time, it probably doesn’t hurt him. He probably feels less pressure this week to play me than he did last week,” Paul said in an interview after his victory over Ugo Humbert. “So I think it’s going to be a very, very tricky and tough match. But I’m really looking forward to this.”

Carlos Alcaraz vs Tommy Paul: Match Prediction

Tommy Paul has displayed his skills quite a lot recently. The player is good at playing smash shots, is very agile and he’s also quick with the racket. The 26-year-old, while also being a title winner twice, is well-prepared to face Carlos in the upcoming match today. Alcaraz has been not as swift with his racket and has been making a lot of errors on court lately. Yet for the Spaniard, there is a good probability that he might win the upcoming match, provided he moves through the rallies with a clear head and well-planned out strategies.

Winning the round against Paul should come easy to the 20-year-old as he has given exceptional performance this year in 2023, with him losing even less than 10% of his matches. Although Alcaraz holds a lead and a good chance of victory in his face-off with Paul today, expect the American to give a fierce fight back, as it might not be all that easy for Alcaraz.

Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in three sets.
