Caroline Wozniacki vs Elina Svitolina: Preview

Former World No. 1 and 2018 Australian Open winner Caroline Wozniacki has made her return to the sport after like three years since retiring way back in 2020 due to her childbirth. Having been away from the sport, she had talked about her return just after Wimbledon with the Dane all set to prepare herself for the upcoming US Open. She started her conquest for reaching the top yet again at the Montreal Open where she could only manage a second-round finish losing to Wimbledon champion, Marketa Vondrousova by 2-6, 5-7.
Having started off well with a win in her first match in over three years against Kimberly Birrell in the first round. She managed to beat her in straight sets by 6-2, 6-2. She was the first Dane player to manage a Grand Slam final finish and even went on to lift a Slam in 2018 when she beat Simona Halep in the Australian Open final. She was at the peak of her career during 2010-2012 when she managed to stay at the top of the WTA rankings for 71 weeks and she believes that she still has it in her to become the World No. 1 yet again. She will face one of the toughest players of the sport who is having one hell of a year and will expect to bank on the confidence by beating her.
On the other hand, Elina Svitolina is flying sky high this year making it to the later stages of almost all the tournaments she has taken part in. Her form has been on a different level and she just cannot stop making it to the headlines since making her comeback. Having missed a lot of games due to the birth of her daughter last year and being busy fighting for her country’s rights, she returned to the court in April.
She has already made some amazing finishes in previous tournaments, from making it to the quarter-finals of the Roland Garros to becoming the semi-finalist at the recently played Wimbledon Championships. She also won the Internationaux De Strasbourg held in France way back in May by beating players such as Anna Blinkova, Clara Burel, Varvara Gracheva, and Louisa Chirico on the way. At the Citi Open, she could only manage a quarter-final finish losing to Jessica Pegula, and at the Canadian Open, she was shown the door by Danielle Collins right in the very first round.
Svitolina and Wozniacki have faced each other five times in the past with Svitolina winning four times and Wozniacki winning just once.
Caroline Wozniacki vs Elina Svitolina: Prediction

Elina Svitolina is expected to have it easy against Caroline considering the amount of game time she has had in the recent tournaments. She is in devastating form and should not sweat herself in order to so past the Dane who is just playing her third match in over three years. Expect a good match with Svitolina moving into the next round.
Prediction: Svitolina to win in two sets.
