Jessica Pegula vs Elina Svitolina: Preview

World No. 4 Jessica Pegula has not had a very great year till this point and has made it to just one final in all the competitions she has played so far. Despite being ranked in the top 10, she is yet to wrap up a single title which is not good by any means for a player like her. She has been getting the right start in the majority of the competitions but is not able to convert that form into a title which is a major sign of worry for the American.
Having started off with a quarter-finals round finish at the Australian Open, her fans expected Pegula to get better once the year progresses but she has let her supporters down time and time again. She also made it to the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open, Eastbourne International, and the Wimbledon Championships. She made it to the semis on three more occasions: at the Dubai Tennis Championships, the Charleston Open, and the Miami Open. In her only appearance at a final this year, she lost to Iga Swiatek at the Qatar Open.
On the other hand, Elina Svitolina has been a revelation this year making it to the headlines of every single newspaper since making her comeback. After missing the last year due to her childbirth and some issues with her mental health, she began her conquest in April.
She made it to the quarter-finals of the Roland Garros losing to eventual champion, Aryna Sabalenka. Svitolina also won the Internationaux De Strasbourg by beating the likes of Anna Blinkova, Clara Burel, Varvara Gracheva, and Louisa Chirico on the way. But her performance at the recently played Wimbledon Chamopibnships surprised the entire world. She entered the competition unseeded and received a wildcard entry but went on to make the semi-finals beating three former Wimbledon winners on the way.
Svitolina and Pegula have faced each other three times in the past with Svitolina winning once and Pegula winning twice.
Jessica Pegula vs Elina Svitolina: Prediction

Jessica Pegula will go in as the favorite to win the match given her experience and record in the competition. She is one of the best players in the world and has proven herself on clay although she is more or less an all-court player. Expect a good match with Pegula moving into the next round.
Prediction: Pegula to win in three sets.
