Rafael Nadal, the 36-year-old Spaniard is widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, with 22 grand slam titles to his name, Nadal has etched his name in the history books and stands among the all-time greats of the sport, the Spaniard leads the grand slam tally with Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer being close followers.

Nadal has enjoyed a very successful season, he won the Australian Open and the French Open right at the start but things went from bad to worse at this year’s Wimbledon as the Spaniard suffered an abdominal tear due to which he had to retire from the event, coming back at the US Open, Nadal has been eliminated from the tournament after losing out to Frances Tiafoe.

Rafael Nadal started off his US Open campaign in fantastic fashion considering that he just came back from injury, the Spaniard was able to reach the round of 16 stage of the tournament, being one of the favorites for winning the tournament, Tiafoe pulled off quite an upset as he eliminated Rafael Nadal.

As a result of the elimination, Rafael Nadal took a lot of heat from fans on social media who took to Twitter to call out the Spaniard started calling him by the infamous name ‘Claydal.’ Many fans took the liberty of calling the Spaniard out for not being able to perform at the US Open and missing out on the chance of winning the 23rd grand slam title of his career.

Many thought that Rafael Nadal would be the favorite to win the US Open this time around as Novak Djokovic was unable to participate in the tournament due to vaccine complications but much to fans’ disappointment, Rafael Nadal was unable to go all way and was eliminated by American professional Frances Tiafoe in over four sets.

Tiafoe will be going up against Russian professional Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals stage of the US Open.
