Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal closed out his third-round match against the talented dutchman, Botic Van de Zandschulp in straight sets. In all three matches, Nadal has never looked like he was ever out of touch. No one can say looking at Rafa’s game that he has missed the whole clay season. He had some minor slip-ups in this match, but that has only changed the scoreline to make it less dominating for the Spaniard. He beat Zandschulp 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 to send the dutchman packing.
He has still to play a tiebreak for the set, but Nadal’s true fitness test will be his next round match against the Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime.World number 9, Felix Auger Alisassime now has Nadal’s uncle Toni Nadal in his team of coaches and he has reached the fourth round for the first time. Felix has shown phenomenal form the few weeks and would look to take down Rafael Nadal and become one of famed few to beat Rafael Nadal at Roland-Garros.
Rafael Nadal faces a resurgent Felix Auger Aliassime in his way to a quarterfinal showdown.
Nadal will face the Candian to book an expected quarterfinal showdown with the world number 1, Novak Djokovic. He will be longing for a revenge against Djokovic who got the better of Nadal in the semifinal at Phillipe-Chatrier last year. Nadal would be truly tested for both his fitness and his form by Auger Aliassime, Nadal will also have to deal with the fact that Felix is also being coached by his own uncle and coach Toni Nadal.
For now fans are rejoicning the return of Rafael Nadal at his best on the clay.
If he manages to beat Felix, it would be cracking match between the 13-time champion and the world number 1, provided Novak doesn’t lose to Diego Schwartzman in the fourth-round.
