In an epic showdown, Coco Gauff competed against Germany’s Laura Siegemund in the opening round of the US Open. She ended the first game after the first set in an intense 26-minute period. Former US President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, who were there in the audience, had their eyes fixed to the match the entire time.

The American lost to her opponent in the first set, setting off the match to an unfavorable start. Siegemund beat Gauff to a score of 6-3, utilizing all of the 8 breakpoints in the first set. Gauff, however, was the ultimate winner in the end.

The exceptional talent of the teenager has attracted a crowd of several A-list celebrities. The Obamas were the latest at the Arthur Ashe Stadium to witness the first-round match of the fellow American. Several other celebrities, including Mike Tyson, Anna Wintour, and Alec Baldwin, were also seated in the audience.

Gauff appears to be in excellent form. She recently emerged as the title-winner at the Cincinnati Open in Ohio, marking her biggest win this year. She had earlier won the Citi Open title as well.

Coco Gauff advances to the second round

With a win over Laura Siegemund, Coco Gauff has advanced to the second round of the ongoing US Open. Though the American lost in the first set, she picked up her form in the remaining ones. She beat her opponent 3-6, 6-2,6-4 in a star-studded event. Gauff will now be going against Russia’s 16-year-old prodigy Mirra Andreeva.

Several A-list celebrities were present to witness the opening round of the 19-year-old sensation at the Grand Slam. Amongst the audience were former President, Barack Obama, as well as former First Lady, Michelle Obama. The two appeared to be heavily engrossed in the match.

American actor Alec Baldwin was also present along with his wife Hilaria. New York-based, American and British media executive and Vogue’s Chief-Editor, Anna Wintour, was also left heavily impressed as she was seen giving a standing ovation during the match.
