Two American talents battled it out against each other in the semifinals of the WTA finals. American No. 1 Coco Gauff faced off against American No. 2 Jessica Pegula in a highly intense match. After playing exceptionally well in the group stages, both players played well enough to make the semi-finals memorable.

Jessica Pegula has played admirably well throughout the tournaments and continues to remain unbeaten. Coco Gauff tried her best against her doubles partner, but Pegula was playing fabulous ground strokes with little to no error. This saw her reach the finish line and book a seat in the finals.

She was playing well with the wind -- and I wasn’t. I mean we both had the same circumstances. She just handled them better than I did.
Coco Gauff said in the press meet after the match.

Coco Gauff has been struggling a bit even since she faced a shoulder injury while playing Iga Swiatek in the China Open. She even lost to World No. 2 again in the WTA finals. With a lack of momentum and an increase in unforced errors, she lost to her doubles partner Pegula 6-2, 6-1.

She is the first woman in the finals of the 2023 WTA Finals and will face the winner of Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek, whose match has been suspended due to harsh weather.

Iga Swiatek was leading by a set when the weather conditions got worse and the match was postponed to another day. The world number 2 Iga is on her 9-match win streak and will look to continue her momentum to end the year with a bang. The winner of this match will be against a player who has yet to lose a match since her win at the Korea Open
