New Balance recently dropped their New Balance x Australian Open collection. It will be donned by Coco Gauff in the 2024 Australian Open and is an all-yellow outfit that NB calls ‘Ginger lemon’ color and comes with navy blue borders. Gauff signed her first contract with New Balance when she was only 14 years old and recently extended it in 2022 when she was 18.
Many fans were of the opinion that Gauff’s outfit for the 2024 Australian Open was inspired by Serena Williams’ bright yellow outfit that she wore at the 2016 edition of the tournament. A user even posted a fake quote of Gauff, where she seemingly confirmed the claims. The 19-year-old took to X to debunk this fake statement and reiterate that the outfit was not inspired by Serena.
You had me fooled. I even sent the tweet to my agent and I was like “I don’t remember ever saying this?” nothing wrong with it ya’ll know I love Serena it wasn’t inspired by her kit. she is a fashion queen tho!! I just literally thought I was going crazy for two mins hahaha.Gauff on X
The 2023 US Open winner’s alternate kit will be the exact opposite of her main kit, i.e., navy blue in color with ginger lemon borders. New Balance also released the Coco CG1 shoes to complete the star’s look.
Just like her idol, Serena Williams, the teen is also known for her fashion sense and her outfits. New Balance did not fail her this time as well.
Coco Gauff is one of the favorites in the 2024 Australian Open
Gauff has been off to a brilliant start to the 2024 season. She recently won the ATP Auckland by defeating Elina Svitolina 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 in the final.
The American had a dream run in the 2023 season and will definitely expect to continue that form in 2024. Gauff won the Cincinnati Masters (her first ATP 1000s), Citi Open and the US Open (her first Grand Slam title) in 2023.
She is currently ranked No. 3 in the WTA rankings and is one of the favorites in the upcoming tournament alongside the likes of Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka. The top-3 players might also face some competition from 2-times Australian Open winner Naomi Osaka who will be making a return to the tournament this year. Coco’s form on hard-courts lately can really give her a massive push in the Australian Open.
