Ex coach praises Coco Gauff
Gauff became the US Open champion after defeating current World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka in three sets. Gauff won her first major victory in five years after coming back from a set down. Her old coach Patrick Mouratoglou has assessed her victory as the American teen phenom receives all of the attention.
Mouratoglou has spoken about Gauff’s improvements, which helped her win her first Grand Slam title. The Frenchman believes she has made the most progress in keeping her cool even in the most difficult conditions. Mouratoglou, who has coached Serena Williams and Stefanos Tsitsipas, has also stated that Gauff cannot be compared to anyone else.
He also mentioned Gauff’s battle against Caroline Wozniacki, mentioning how the 19-year-old did not give up despite losing the second set and being a game down in the third. He claimed that he knew panic would set in, but he was surprised by Gauff’s comeback to win the game.
