Coco Gauff dubs Roger Federer as the ‘GOAT’ despite Novak Djokovic winning a record-breaking 24th Grand Slam title

Coco Gauff and Roger Federer
The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) debate is a topic of ongoing discussion and one cannot possibly conclude that one out of the Big 3 is the best tennis player of all time. Sparking yet another topic of discussion in this matter, Coco Gauff used the ‘Goat’ symbol on Instagram to reply to former World No.1 and tennis legend, Roger Federer’s post where he congratulated Coco on winning the US Open 2023.
People can have their own explanations as to why one considers a player to be the greatest of all time. The interesting part of Coco Gauff’s comment on Roger Federer’s post is the fact that she called the Swiss the ‘Goat’ just hours after Novak Djokovic won a record-breaking 24 slams, defeating Daniil Medvedev in the US Open finals and equalling Margaret Court’s tally of 24 slams.
Many tennis players and fans, including Coco Gauff, believe that Roger Federer is indeed the ‘GOAT’ because of his game style, sense and what he has done for the sport. His transition from a serve and volley game to modern tennis helps him have a variety of skill sets which adds to his game unlike Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
However, in recent times more and more people have joined the ‘Goat’ discussion to hail Novak Djokovic as the undisputed king of tennis based on his mental strength and title count. Some people disagree with this stating that the records and titles are only an aspect of the game and the impact that Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer had on the sport is something that the Serb can never match.
Novak Djokovic continues the Big 3 dominance and extends his tally to 24 Slams

World No.1, Djokovic won his historic 24th Grand Slam at the US Open 2023, defeating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. He has not overtaken Serena Williams and has equalled Margaret Court’s record of 24 slams. He is the only one left from the Big 3 who is still continuing the dominating style of playing and winning Major Titles. With Roger Federer at 20 slams and Rafael Nadal at 22 slams, Novak has overtaken both his rivals by a small margin and does not intend to stop.
Andy Murray believes that Novak will not stop at 24 slams. The hunger and passion for titles are still there in him and will continue until that thirst for greatness is quenched. What Djokovic has achieved and will achieve in the future is something miraculous and out of this world. He is a once-in-a-lifetime player.
