Coco Gauff explains her decision to block people on social media owing to ‘Death threats, racism, body shaming’ following her WTA Finals exit
Gauff even labeled Twitter as the worst platform in terms of trolling.

World No. 3 Coco Gauff had the chance to lift the WTA Finals, which would have improved her rankings in the WTA rankings. She has taken the tennis world by storm lifting three titles in just three months. But a bad run at the recently played WTA Finals had her fans abusing and thrashing her on social media with several negative comments.
To tackle this negativity, Gauff tried to stay away from these people by blocking them. When one of the fans on Twitter asked Coco Gauff about unblocking her fans, pleading for better treatment for her supporters, the American had a reason for her action.
Gauff replied to the user saying,
I only block people who are negative not my fans. I don’t search for these pages. it comes on my timeline.Coco Gauff on X
The American teenager also tried to make her situation understandable on Twitter, revealing the amount of criticism she received every single day on social media. She added,
When you deal with the daily harassment I deal with every single day. death threats, racism, body shaming. etc. it is exhausting. so I try my best to spare myself.
What was Coco Gauff’s answer regarding staying faithful to her true supporters?
When fingers were being raised against Coco Gauff for her decision to block her followers on Twitter, she talked about how important her true tennis fans are to her. She even concluded that her main urge to stay active on social media is to maintain a good relationship with her well-wishers. The 19-year-old also talked about how much the well-wishes and the nice comments mean for her.
Gauff also marked Twitter as one of the most critical platforms for any sports stars due to its critical users.
Reason why I stay active on socials is because of my fans. to see their nice comments and support. it keeps me going. twitter is the worst platform.
On the sports side of things, Gauff’s 2023 season has officially come to an end. She has crashed out of the WTA Finals in both the singles and doubles. The American, however, had her best season ever, so the recent exit won’t put her down for long hopefully. Gauff managed to win her first Grand Slam title in the form of the US Open this year.
