US Open Champion Coco Gauff revealed the compelling reason her brother didn’t answer her call after her victory in the final. Immediately after the match was over, the young American was spotted trying to call a ‘mysterious person’ on the phone. Later, she admitted in the on-court interview following the match that she was trying to FaceTime her brother. Unfortunately, the champion’s brother did not answer.
While she did get a call back from her brother, she was running late for the interview. “I gotta go,” she said on the phone as she made her way to the dais. A few days after these events unfolded, Gauff posted a humorous incident on Twitter (now referred to as “X”), sharing a video of her brother enthusiastically celebrating her victory with loud cheers. “No wonder my brother didn’t answer the phone. Legend says he is still screaming to this day,” she wrote in the caption.
Immediately after Gauff’s championship point, a chaotic and joyful scene erupted. Her family and friends can be seen cheering and celebrating in the video. Laughter and tears filled the room as Gauff’s brother celebrated her first Grand Slam victory, which was particularly meaningful as she won it on her home turf.
Coco Gauff has always credited her family as her strongest support system, and this heartfelt scene at her home reinforces the significance of their support.
