Coco Gauff celebrated her monumental maiden Grand Slam victory at the luxurious Ray Hotel in her native state of Florida. The celebration took place recently, on September 17th, on Sunday. She commemorated her US Open title with her childhood best friend, Jamilah Nicole Snells.
The 19-year-old won her first grand slam title at the US Open against World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. Gauff made a huge comeback in the game after losing the first set 2-6 to the Russians. Sabalenka also had a lead in the second set, but the third seed did not back down and rallied her way to win the remaining two sets, 6-3, 6-2. The American also became the youngest player to win the title since Serena Williams in 1999.
On Sunday, Snells posted several pictures of her and Gauff from the party. In the picture, World No. 3 can be seen donning a pink satin dress with some intricate flower embroidery, while Snells was wearing a body-hugging sequinned black dress.
Snells expressed her happiness and pride by calling Gauff ‘My Champ’
Gauff replies to her affection by commenting ‘We ateeee’ and ‘Love you’
Coco Gauff’s hilarious choice of drink while celebrating her win gets revealed
Veteran tennis coach Brad Gilbert spilled some beans related to the party they had to celebrate Coco Gauff’s victory at the US Open. He said that they partied hard, and he had a little too much tequila post a glazing win.
Since the age of drinking in the state of New York and across the country is 21, Gauff’s choice of drink that day was water. Therefore, Gilbert did all the drinking at the party. While the coach indulged in tequila, Gauff had to stick to drinking water.
Gilbert also expressed his emotions regarding the experience as a whole.
He said “It was a great, amazing summer. Coco is an incredible kid; she’s humble, she’s hard-working, and her journey is just beginning,” to TMZ.
