The arguments between the chair umpire and the players are way too common in tennis. This time it was the young Coco Gauff who started the argument with the umpire after a wrong call.

During her match against Karolina Pliskova, Gauff hit a serve which was called out by the chair umpire as the ball hit the net on Pliskova’s return.

However, Gauff decided to review the serve, and it turned out to be in, so the umpire told Gauff to hit a first serve. What should have been Gauff’s point was not given by the umpire, who instead told her to serve again.

Understandably, Gauff was unhappy with the chair umpire as she stood her ground and asked for the supervisor as well as the rulebook. While the Americans thought that it was a late call, the umpire did not think so. He kept on disagreeing with Gauff, who got furious and asked for the supervisor to explain the rules.

Both went back and forth, putting their points forward, and it was not long before Gauff got irritated and asked the umpire to not cut her off and let her speak.

You called it out after she hit it. Can you not cut me off for two seconds? Call the supervisor… you can’t deny me the supervisor. I’m gonna ask her what the rule is
Said an irritated Gauff to the chair umpire.

It was not long before Gauff stubbornly called for the supervisor to double-check the rules. She wanted to call the supervisor and ask her if the umpire called the ball before Pliskova hit it or after.

Knowing her right to call the supervisor, Gauff was ready to wait it out but ultimately decided to wait till the match concluded and go to the supervisor.

The two went back and forth for around 4 minutes as the entire video was uploaded online. Nonetheless, the match went on, as Gauff posed a comeback from a set down to win the match. With this, she advanced to the quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships and is one step closer to another Tour win.
