Coco Gauff has now her eyes set on lifting WTA FInals title
After lifting her maiden Grand Slam title, Coco Gauff has her eyes set on her maiden WTA Finals title. The 19-year-old American is making her second appearance at the season-ending championships. While Gauff had an unforgettable outing on her debut, the reigning US Open champion has a chance to turn it around this time.
Gauff has not started her campaign as she would have liked. She managed to beat Ons Jabeur in her first group-stage game. However, the 19-year-old American got hammered in her second match, against Iga Swiatek. She was defeated in straight sets of 6-0, 7-5.
Now, Gauff’s qualification chances depend on her match against Marketa Vandrousova as well as on the result of the match between Swiatek and Jabeur. If Gauff manages to enter the semis, she will have a chance to avenge her defeat in the group stage against Swiatek. Gauff can also eye that elusive trophy as she stands a chance to face her doubles partner, Jessica Pegula in the final.
