Storm Hunter had a fabulous season in 2023 as the Australian ends the year as World No.1 in doubles. The feat reached by Hunter is one for the history books. The significance of the record can be understood from the fact that she is only the second Australian to finish the year as World No.1 in doubles. She is only second to Sam Stosur.
After this historic achievement, the Australian has opened up about her ambitions in the singles division. In the interview with The Guardian, Storm Hunter spoke about her ambitions in the Singles format.
I definitely want to give my singles one last crack--I have the belief in myself that even if my doubles ranking falls a little bit, I can get back up there if I decide to finish my singles career.Hunter via The Guardian
Hunter also opened up about how practice sessions with Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula have helped her. In the interview, she said,
I’m lucky I get to practice with [Singles No.5] Pegula and [singles No.3] Gauff. I’m very lucky that I have relationships with those girls now. It gives me that confidence and that’s why I want to play a bit more singles because I have a bit of more confidence in myself.
Storm Hunter pursues new partner for doubles in 2024

The Australian is currently working with Katerina Siniakova from the Czech Republic as her new doubles partner. Their duo has made it to the finals of the Adelaide Open and won the title in Berlin earlier.
Hunter will next feature in the United Cup where she will be playing in front of her home crowd for the first time. She will be playing mixed doubles alongside Matthew Ebden and is in the reserves for the singles.
With new aspirations and dreams, Hunter will look to start the season in a smashing way, starting with the United Cup.
