Current World No. 3 Coco Gauff matches another record as she qualified for the 2023 Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Finals. She has become only the fourth teenager to qualify for the event twice in a row. The other three players to do so were Kim Clijsters, Jelena Dokic, and Maria Sharapova.

Coco Gauff has created sensations in the tennis world over the past few years. Be it the singles tournaments or the doubles events, she has always managed to rise to the top. She has qualified for the season-closing event in both the singles category and the doubles tournament alongside doubles partner Jessica Pegula.

However, the US Open was not her only success this year. Gauff is tied with Iga Swiatek for the most titles this season with four. Apart from the US Open, she has won the WTA 1000 event at the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati. Some of her other titles include the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, and the Citi DC Open in Washington. These achievements put her in the No. 3 position in the world ranking and ultimately qualified her for the WTA Finals.

With her record-breaking maiden Grand Slam victory at the US Open in 2023, she created waves in the tennis world. She reached a career-high ranking of World No. 3 following this history-making title.

Coco Gauff has served as a lifeline for the next generation of players for the fans of the sport. She already has quite an illustrious career at just 19 years of age. However, with a fairly long career ahead of her, she has the perfect opportunity to set her name next to the greats and even surpass them.

Federer, upon his retirement at the Laver Cup 2022, has returned as a guest to the event, where he spoke about the future of the sport.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion has revealed that the state of current tennis looks quite promising. He also named the achievement of Coco Gauff at the US Open to be “special and unique”.

He also named a few other next-generation players like Carlos Alcaraz, Holger Rune, Jannik Sinner, and many others. The Swiss maestro also admitted that he regrets not being able to play a complete generation of new players.
