Coco Gauff, the American sensation, gets into a battle of words with the chair umpire during her match against Karolina Pliskova. The 19-year-old does not hesitate to put her point across.
During her round-of-16 match against Pliskova, the American had served when the chair umpire called it out while the ball bounced off Pliskova’s racquet and hit the net.
Immediately, Gauff went to the umpire and argued about the rules. She reckoned that the umpire had called it late, while the umpire stood his ground.
The argument lasted up to four long minutes, and Gauff stood adamant, not ready to leave without meeting the supervisor. Finally, the match continued, and it was not spoken of until the end of the match. A fueled-up Gauff revealed being confident in her point win and even stated that every animal
I think it just fueled me. I wanna watch back the video. I feel confident that it was after. It’s ok. It’s just one point. It happens in tennis. Players make mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes… It kind of went upward from there for me.Said Gauff during her post-match interview.
Furthermore, Gauff also agreed that she had dragged out the argument longer than needed but still felt she was doing what was right.

US Open winner Coco Gauff was recently caught in a quarrel with a chair umpire who had supposedly called the point a little late.
Notably, where many players might lose their touch and momentum to this distraction, Coco Gauff revealed that she told herself to stay calm and not go for too much. Doing what she does best, the American did not let this moment be a turning point in the match.
I was trying to tell myself to stay calm the next point cause sometimes I get angry, I go for too much so I was trying not to let that be a turning point in the set.Said Gauff in the post-match interview.
Coming back from a set down, Gauff has shown her resilience and won the game 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Now, the US Open winner is up against Anna Kalinskaya for a spot closer to the finals. After a tough loss in Qatar, Gauff looks to bounce back and have a deeper run in the ongoing tournament that concludes her middle-easter run.
