Coco Gauff, in an interview with ESPN, revealed that her biggest regret is not being able to play against her idol, Serena Williams. While the young American has plenty of laurels to add to her name, she will always have this one regret that she will carry along with her throughout her career. She also admits that according to her opinion, the American veteran is the ‘Greatest of All Time.’

Gauff explained that she does not believe that she is carrying American tennis. “We have so many compatriots who are doing well, “ she said, acknowledging the varied achievements of her fellow Americans. She also said that she would never go as far as to compare herself to her role model, Serena Williams. “I’d hope to do half as well as she did. But I’m not gonna compare myself to her, ” she said.

She also said that even being thought about in the same line as Williams is probably her greatest achievement. “The only regret I’ll have for the rest of my life is not being able to play her, ” she said. She also was wistful when she admitted the fact that if either one of them had won one more round, she would have had the privilege of battling against the American Great.

“I’m still happy to be a product of her legacy, “ said Gauff, as she expressed her regret. However, the teen is still doing all she can to protect said legacy. With her final qualification at the US Open, she becomes the youngest American to reach the finals at Flushing Meadows, after Serena Williams.

Following in the footsteps of her mentor, Serena Williams, Coco Gauff has finally made it to the final of the US Open. Though the teen has seen the final crowd at Arthur Ashe, she has never been here on account of the singles category.

However, at the US Open 2023, she has made that dream come true. Although she has a final appearance at the 2022 French Open, where she lost to former World No.1 Iga Swiatek, she has never made it at her home Grand Slam.

Her best finish at the US Open has been a quarter final finish at the 2022 US Open. With her title at Cincinnati, the American is in red-hot form. She will prove to be a very tough opponent against her final opponent.
