“Justin Bieber is my fan,” Starstruck Coco Gauff reveals meeting Barack Obama’s family and Justin Bieber as her biggest fangirl moments after tough victories
Gauff won her maiden singles Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open defeating Aryna Sabalenka in the finals coming from a set down in the championship game.

Coco Gauff shot to fame with her apperance at the 2019 Wimbledon Championships. She defeated five-time champ Venus Williams in the first round as a 15-year-old in her debut at the prestigious event. Since then, her popularity has only increased.
The American quickly became a sensation and with wildcards being offered by tournaments, she could easily transition on the Tour as a regular. While she struggled for success in terms of title given her lack of experience, she did put in the hard work and is now reaping the reward of having won the 2023 US Open.
As a teen champion of a Grand Slam singles event on home soil, Gauff became a household name in the USA assuming she wasn’t a one before. While big brands had already approached her, Gauff’s matches also started celebrities and famous people from different walks of life at the tournament.
In a recent interview with the US Open’s media team, the World No. 3 was asked to name the ‘coolest people’ she got congratulated on after winning the Grand Slam title. The 20-year-old quickly named former US President Barrack Obama and his family before fangirling on popstar Justin Bieber.
Probably the Obama's. I got to meet them. I actually met them during the tournament and not afterward. And also, Justin Bieber is like a fan, which is really cool because I'm a huge fan of him. So yeah, I think those two are probably the coolest I can think of at the top of my head.said Gauff.

As is the norm, the players receive a full-size replica of the original trophy to take home. The original remains with the US Open authorities. Gauff also took home the copy of her trophy which is now one of her most prized possessions.
In the interview, she was asked where has the trophy been placed in her house. Many players like to show it off and have trophy cabinets as well. But Gauff had a rather humble approach towards it.
It's (trophy) in my parents room, in the bag, like a little Tiffany bag. We don't have it on displaysaid Gauff.
With the hard-court season now coming to a temporary halt, Gauff will now be gearing up for the Golden Swing. She has been a good player on clay having reached the finals at the 2022 French Open in both singles and doubles. To her misfortune, she lost in both. Gauff will however now look to change things this year.
With a packed schedule on the surface this year with her rising confidence, the American will be the player to beat this year. Also having missed the Tokyo Olympics due to testing positive for Covid-19, she will have her eyes on the Paris Olympics later this year, also being played on clay.
