World No. 6 Coco Gauff has had a successful run this season, becoming the champion of the Washington Open and Cincinnati Open. The American surprised everyone when she defeated World No. 1 Iga Swiatek at Cincinnati. With a new approach to tennis, the young star has ushered in a ‘new era’. She has improved her skills by adding former coach Andre Agassi, and Brad Gilbert to her team.
However, there is one thing that the 19-year-old still maintains. It is the size of her nails. Some fans seemed concerned at the length of her nails, saying that it could be the reason for her poor forearm. Responding to those comments, Gauff was quoted as saying, “I know a lot of people think I need to cut my nails to help me with my forehand better. I’m like, I did try the short nails, and it did not make my forehand better. These are here to stay.”
She also gave the example of legendary tennis players like Serena Williams and Venus Williams having long nails. She said they were never affected by it; therefore, it disproves the theory that they could cause a hindrance to her game.
Apart from that, the 6th seed player declared that people can think whatever they want, but at the end of the day, it is her decision. She likes her nails the way they are.

Coco Gauff might face Iga Swiatek at the US Open

The World No. 1 and World No. 6 might clash again after the Cincinnati Open semifinal. The U.S. Open draw has both players in the same half. Tennis fans were seen complaining about the same, as there have already been too many matches, including the two. They have played each other eight times, with a head-to-head score of 7-1.
Some fans were excited about the new rivalry in tennis. According to predictions, the two seeded players have a chance to meet in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open. The defending champion will be looking to avenge her Cincinnati Open loss, and on the other hand, the American teen will be looking forward to tilting their head-to-head score in her favor. It would definitely shape up to be an interesting match if it happened. Gauff could also be facing Mirra Andreeva, Petra Kvitova, and Jelena Ostapenko.
