American young tennis sensation Coco Gauff has been in the pinkest of her form at the moment. She has had a pretty hard year so far this year and was under a lot of pressure from her fans with many pundits and experts even ruling her of the upcoming US Open. But the the tides have changed with Gauff looking like a whole different player after joining hands with new Spaniard coach, Pere Riba.
Gauff had to bring out positive results from her hometown competition and she did live up to the expectations of her fans by lifting the Citi Open 2023 title right in the midst of Washington. She beat Maria Sakkari on straight sets giving the Greek absolutely no chance of coming back in the entire match. After winning the title, she has given a brave statement about her dream title and which trophy she craves.
Gauff said, “One of my biggest dreams is to win a gold medal. Frankly, I don’t care if it’s in singles or doubles. A gold medal is a gold medal.” She missed the last Olympics tournament which was held in Tokyo due to covid protocols. She would now be adamant to win the Olympics gold medal in the next session which will take place in Paris in the year 2023.
Will the tennis world see a new Coco Gauff?
Gauff has been putting in extra effort after getting acquainted with a new coach, Pere Riba, and their work is been completely visible.
Her recent results have been the complete opposite of what she was suffering from in the last few months. She went on to hit the absolute bottom in her career in the last few months losing 12 matches on the trot which broke her down completely.
The credit shall go to Pere Riba as well so has turned her into the excellent professional she was when she took the world by storm in her starting years. Now having won the second title of the year at the Citi Open, she would be excited to carry forward this form and produce the same result in the upcoming Canadian Open with her starting her first-round match on Wednesday against Katie Boulter.
