American tennis professional Coco Gauff faced former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki in the fourth round of the US Open. The two clashed in an intense match for a spot in the quarterfinals. At the end of the three sets, Gauff emerged as the match winner, as her father beamed with joy and applauded her win from the stands.

The audience at Arthur Ashe Stadium was filled with anticipation at the start of the match between Coco Gauff and Caroline Wozniacki. Both players possess excellent track records and have emerged as some of the biggest names in the tennis world.

During their Sunday match, Gauff dominated the first set with ease. However, Wozniacki wasn’t very keen on letting the 19-year-old win that quickly. The 33-year-old made a comeback with a win in the second set. By the end of the first two sets, tension between the two players was at its peak.

In a nail-bitingly close third-set showdown, Coco Gauff emerged victorious over her Danish opponent. Gauff secured her spot in the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 win over Wozniacki.

In an on-court interview following her win, Gauff commented on her dad watching her play. “My dad isn’t in the box anymore because he gets too nervous,” she said. “He’s somewhere in 1 of the suites & he’s been apparently doing laps around the stadium…I don’t know if he can hear me right now, but I felt his good energy,” the 19-year-old added.

Coco Gauff also told the reporters that it was an honor to play Wozniacki. The teenager will now face current World No. 20, Jelena Ostapenko, in the quarterfinals. Ostapenko made her way into the “Round of 8” after defeating top seed Iga Swiatek in the duo’s latest clash.

19-year-old Coco Gauff has entered the ‘Round of 8’ following her win over 2018 Australian Open winner Caroline Wozniacki. During the match, the American had an intense reaction towards her team. Gauff was heard saying, “Please just stop” to her coach, Brad Gilbert, as he told her to be aggressive and “control more of the center of the court”.

Talking about it after the match, Gauff said about the incident, “Sometimes I tell [my coaches] to chill a little bit because I like to figure things out for myself. Sometimes it’s a stress reaction”.
