Tennis sensation Coco Gauff has pinnacled through the women’s ranking through her sensational performances in the year. The youngster has gone deep in most of the tournaments this year and has also won a Grand Slam in that run. Unfortunately, disappointment looms as the youngster withdraws from the Zhengzhou Open.

The 19-year-old faced some pain during her semi-finals game against Iga Swiatek where the youngster lost in two straight sets. The final score was 6-2, 6-3 where the US Open winner was seen struggling during the first set. She later revealed that she experienced some pain in her shoulder which majorly caused her to lose the match. Lately, the World Number 3, withdrew from the Zhengzhou Open which is the practice before the big WTA finals

Coco Gauff was seeded one in the upcoming Zhengzhou Open, where she withdrew from. Her update on the injury scare remains undisclosed and fans of her will wait for some news from the youngest US Open winner. Gauff’s withdrawal also comes with a blow of disappointment from the fans who have been eagerly awaiting to see the youngster lead the tournament seeded as number 1.

Coco Gauff faces an unforeseen injury scare during a match against Iga Swiatek

During the semi-final match against Iga Swiatek, American rising star Coco Gauff was seen for the first time taking a medical timeout where her physiotherapist was present. “I’m not the type to call the physiotherapist. My coach recommended that I do it. It helped. But it’s really a new experience. I’m not used to playing with pain in general,” said Gauff during the post-match interview after her embarrassing loss against World Number 2 Iga Swiatek.

After her early exit at Wimbledon, the light in the tunnel became smaller for the youngster who surprisingly put up a season of a lifetime which included her winning two back-to-back titles. Despite her immense talent and rapid rise in tennis, Gauff is still a young player who has a whole career ahead of her which will teach her how to navigate both physical and mental challenges of the sport. While her withdrawal is a setback, it does allow Gauff to recover and prepare well ahead of the WTA finals which are all set to take place at the end of October.
