American tennis Coco Gauff gave her father something to be really proud of as she stood up to the chair umpire after he made a wrong call during her third-round match at the Dubai Tennis Championships. As Gauff faced Karolina Pliskova in the third round, she was left frustrated by a wrong call made by the chair umpire.
During the second set, when Gauff was looking to extend her lead over Pliskova, she was denied a point when the chair umpire wrongly called it a fault.
Gauff then asked for a review, and it showed that her service was perfectly fine. However, the chair umpire asked her to serve her again instead of awarding the point.
This infuriated Gauff who complained to the chair umpire. She made him aware that the call was made after Pliskova returned the serve. But the chair umpire insisted that Gauff serves again and this further led to arguments where the American ace demanded that the supervisor be called.
You called it out right after she hit it! Yes, you did! The ball was already in the net when she hit it and you said out. The call was a late call! Call the supervisor. I am not playing until you call the supervisor. I’m gonna ask her the rule. You don’t know the answer. My right is to question.Coco Gauff said.

He said that he is proud of her for standing up for herself. Corey also wrote that he is happy to see Coco becoming the woman he prayed for.
So proud of my daughter. Standing up for yourself and fighting for fairness. You have the strength of your grandmothers who are 2 of the strongest women we know. While being passionate you remained respectful as you articulated your argument. The scene is so familiar to women and women of color pleading and fighting to be treated fairly and respectfully by their male counterparts.Corey Gauff wrote in a post on Instagram.
You are an incredible example to women and your generation on what it means to fight and despite not getting the outcome you wanted you stood up for yourself and successfully moved on. You are becoming the young woman I prayed for God Bless youCoco Gauff’s father wrote.
Notably, Coco Gauff could not succeed in her attempt to turn the call in her favor, despite all her efforts. Nevertheless, the 19-year-old made a comeback and beat Pliskova in three sets to reach the quarterfinals at the WTA 1000 event. Gauff beat Pliskova 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 in an hour and 54 minutes. She will next face Anna Kalinskaya.
