Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic has been in the headlines for his ongoing debate in context to his vaccination status and his participation chances since the beginning of the year. His ‘unvaccinated’ status has received a lot of flax from people, especially after his withdrawal from the US Open over his vaccination status failed to comply with the US mandates and guidelines. His firm stance on not getting the vaccination anytime soon landed him in much trouble as he had to miss two out of the four Grand Slam events in a year. He had already missed the ATP events that lead up to the US Open but was hopeful of an exception to rule out in his favor.

Amid all his controversies, he showed his dominance at the All England Club as he clinched his 7th Wimbledon title and 21st singles major title that makes him undefeated for a consecutive four years. With this win, he is just one major away from equalling Rafael Nadal‘s record of the maximum number of singles major titles which is 22. The Serbian legend is likely to make his comeback to the ATP Tour in Tel Aviv but prior to that, he will be playing at the Davis Cup which will be his first outing after the Wimbledon triumph. He is also slated to participate at the Laver Cup with the star-studded Team Europe under the captain Bjorn Borg.
