Men’s Singles Draw Preview

Defending champion and World No.5 Carlos Alcaraz will headline the top half of the draw. He gets a first-round bye along with the other top 4 seeds. He will face either Jiri Vesely or Federico Delbonis in the second round. He is drawn opposite 6th seeded German Daniel Altmaier who opens against a qualifier. In an All-Argentine battle, Facundo Bagnis will be up against Tomas Martin Etcheverry with the winner facing Altmaier in a probable second round clash.

Third seed Holger Rune will be up against Bernabe Zapata Miralles or Dino Prizmic in the second round and could possibly face Fabio Fognini in the quarterfinal. Fognini will face Daniel Elahi Galan in the opening round and will face either Pedro Cachin or a qualifier in the second round.

Playing for the first time after Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner will headline the bottom half of the draw. He will lock horns against Jaume Munar or Mikael Ymer in the second round and could possibly face in form Alex Molcan in the Round of 116. Molcan is opening against Duje Ajdukovic and will face either Henri Laaksonen or Roberto Carballes Baena in the Round of 16.

The third quarter of the draw will feature two of the brightest talents on the tour currently. 4th seed Sebastian Baez will play either Laslo Djere or a qualifier in the Round of 16 while Lorenzo Musetti will meet Aljaz Bedene in the first round. He will then be up against a qualifier or Mili Poljicak in the next round. Baez and Musetti are expected to clash in the quarterfinals.

German Open finalist Carlos Alcaraz will face Holger Rune in the first semifinal. Alcaraz will go in as the favorite but Rune showed at the French Open how well he can play on the red dirt too. Having said that, expect Alcaraz to win the match and enter his second consecutive tour final.

Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti will play the second semifinal. Both Italians know each others’ game well but given Musetti’s recent form, he will be a big threat despite Sinner being the favorite on paper.

The top two seeds of the environment, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will make it to the final of the 2022 Croatia Open. Alcaraz is one of the best players in the world currently based on form so will be the obvious favorite to win the match. But Sinner knows how to defend and returns serve pretty well. Expect a thrilling final with Alcaraz winning his 5th title of the season.
