World No.33 Dan Evans played an extraordinary game of tennis as he battled against Carlos Alcaraz in the third round of the Shanghai Masters. In a baffling display of skill, Evans rushed from the baseline to the net to save a point. While he made a successful return, he still lost the point when he tripped and held on to the net.
Evans gave a tough contest to Alcaraz in the Shanghai Open third round. While the Briton proved to be a worthy opponent to the former World No.1, it was ultimately the latter who won in this encounter. With a score of 7-6, 6-4, the match was indeed a thriller. Nevertheless, Dan Evans displayed his prowess and skill in the sport with certain unforgettable moments during the match.
One such moment was when the Briton went from the baseline to the net in an incredible display of speed. While he was able to make a successful return on the shot, he had unfortunately tripped on his return and hence had to hold on to the net for support. While the Briton has taken this incident in good spirits, his falter ultimately led him to lose out on the point. According to the rules, a player automatically loses the point if they touch the nets during the rally.
Nevertheless, the match between the duo was one for the books. In a two-set thriller, it was ultimately Carlos Alcaraz who came out on top. While this may be the case, it is true that Dan Evans deserved praise for his stellar performance in the match.
