A very peculiar incident took place in the match between Carlos Alcaraz and Dan Evans, where a stranger sat down in his player box by mistake and his entourage had to throw him out in the middle of the match. However, it began with Evans complaining to the umpire that the guy sitting in his box was not with him and after that, further action was taken.

“The guy in the front is not with me,” Evans told umpire Damien Dumusois. “The guy three [rows] up is not with me. With the camera out, he’s not with me.” At that time, he was 1-4 down in the first set. Thus, his frustration was understandable.

After one more point was played, Dan Evans’ team asked the guy to move away and sit a few seats behind, i.e., outside of the box. However, that did no good to Evans as despite making a comeback in the third set, he went on to lose the match against the World No. 1 eventually.

Talking about the match in question, the World No. 1 did not seem to have any trouble from the very beginning. Evans won the third set, but Alcaraz again made a comeback in the very next set to register a win and qualify for the 4th round.

Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz will be facing Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi in the fourth round of the match, i.e., in the Round of 16 of the US Open 2023. So far, he has defeated all his opponents pretty easily, winning the first three matches of his campaign with ease.

Youngster Arnaldi has a career-high rank of World No. 61 and is currently on the rise. He won his first round against Jason Kubler courtesy of a walkover, his third round against Cameron Norrie in straight sets, and the second round against Arthur Fils after an intense 5-set battle. However, he is not expected to cause a lot of damage to 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz, who is at the top of his game right now.
