Daniil Medvedev once again, as is his nature did something very wacky on the court in the Monte-Carlo clash with Alexander Zverev. After losing a very crucial 5th service game in the second set, the world no. 5 removed the Net Post that keeps the net stable on the clay courts. He did this in a reaction to two back-to-back double faults he made to lose the game. The second double fault that cost him the game, he hit the ball on the net in the second service. Daniil Medvedev, in his ever so gentle comic style just simply removed the pole and left it on the court.

This drew some funny reactions from both the chair umpire, Carlos Bernardes, the commentators, and the opponent Alexander Zverev. Carlos swiftly came out of his chair and kept the pole back in position while saying “Its okay, it didnt break“.

The commentators found this quite funny, as they thought the action definitely warranted a warning. But they did seem to appreciate the players’ humor and the chair umpire’s easy-going attitude. The funniest reaction came from Alexander Zverev, who paused briefly to see what his good friend was upto. He then exchanged looks with his coach and just smiled, nodding his head. His reaction was almost as if he expects something hilarious to come from Daniil while on court. Watch what happened in the post below.
