Fans brutally grilled Daniil Medvedev for his hypocrisy after the Russian angrily smashed a racket during his match against Emil Ruusuvuori.
For context, six days ago, Daniil Medvedev told the press that he wants to change and wants to be a little more mature with his behavior.
I want to mature. I feel like I've taken a big step forward in the last month. He said

However, interestingly enough, the Russian failed to live up to his own expectations, and six-day-old comments resurfaced on Twitter yet again, eliciting a plethora of reactions online.
As expected, the comment and the completely opposite action did not sit well with the majority of tennis fans out there, who ultimately bashed Medvedev left, right, and center.
A tennis fan labeled him “the clown” for his actions on X formerly known as Twitter. Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
He's a Russian scum. Just like all Russians. Evil.A fan wrote.
Some other fans were on the Grand Slam winner’s side as well.
Australian tennis organizers had extended the duration of the 2024 edition of the Melbourne event due to players playing past midnight. However, unfortunately, they couldn’t stop the tie between Daniil Medvedev and Emil Ruusuvuori as the Rod Laver Arena got scanty as the match got better.
However, this was a drilling test of the persistence of the Russian star after seeing the likes of Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev grind hard against tough opponents.

The tie began at 11 p.m., and Medvedev looked set to be bundled out of the tournament, but the 27-year-old Russian stemmed the tide in the third set, securing an important win to force the game into the fourth set, edging at a tiebreak.
He concluded the match with a successful win in the fifth set, holding on to victory in a 3-6, 6-7(1), 6-4, 7-6(1), 6-0 contest that lasted four hours and 23 minutes.
Perhaps it was a late start that played a major part in Medvedev beginning the match on the wrong foot after losing his opening service game. A couple of minutes later, the 2021 US Open champion found himself 3-0 down and never recovered as he gave away 16 unforced errors in the opening set that allowed the Finnish to edge in front.
The Russian sought redemption in the second set but were edged over. In the remaining three sets, Daniil Medvedev showed how good he can be when he is cool and less frustrated.
