The Russian World No.3 Daniil Medvedev took it to Twitter (now renamed as X) to have his say on a young player trying to cope with his “unorthodox” tennis playing style. The Russian star saw the video on X as the account that uploaded the video after mentioning his official account. To everyone’s surprise, Medvedev actually replied to the video in a “Medvedev” way of doing things.

Medvedev wrote from his official X handle, “Inspiring new generations everywhere!” with strong emojis to underline his statement. Medvedev’s reply was welcomed well around the internet by tennis fans as they are having an almost off-season after the final Grand Slam of the tournament – the US Open is over. “Octopus is probably the most common one, which a lot of people call me,” Medvedev had said in 2021, per Arab News.

The Russian World No.3 will be playing in the indoor hard court swing starting in China after the Davis Cup and Laver Cup are concluded. As the Russian national team is suspended, Medvedev doesn’t get a chance to participate in the World Cup of tennis. The Russian former US Open champion will also not be a part of Team Europe in this year’s Laver Cup.

Daniil Medvedev will be eying the ATP Tour finals

With the US Open hopes dismantled by a solid Novak Djokovic, the Russian World No.3 Daniil Medvedev will eventually be trying to get his hands on the ATP tour finals, which is also known as the indoor Grand Slam tournament. He has the record of winning this precious tournament in 2020 when he beat Dominic Thiem from a set down.

Medvedev will also have chances to become the year-end World No.1 player, though the chances are rare considering the form and fitness of the current top two players of the world – Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz. Djokovic is currently playing in the Davis Cup and has withdrawn from the Shanghai Masters, expressing apology to fans from China.

The Spanish World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz has skipped the Davis Cup this year to concentrate on the rest of the season. This is also said to be a clear indication of his interest in becoming the World’s No.1 player if there are chances.
