Russian tennis professional Daniil Medvedev can easily be the player of the month in the ATP Tour. After having a disappointing start to the 2023 season, the 27-year-old scored a hat-trick of titles in the last three weeks. The most recent one came in the Dubai Tennis Championships after defeating his compatriot Andrey Rublev in the final.
The Dubai title is the 18th career title for Medvedev. The victory also makes him the first man in the Open Era to win all the trophies in different cities. Now he has one of the most beautiful collections of trophies, and it was not easy for Medvedev to pick a favorite.
After Dubai’s win, Medvedev was asked about the same and he came up with an interesting answer. “So tough to say. I would have to say US Open, for sure, just because it’s a Grand Slam, not even for the trophy. It’s tough to say because I have them where myself is looking at the trophy. There is a TV. I can see all of them,” Medvedev responded.
After a lot of thought, he picked his 2019 Cincinnati Masters’ trophy as the favorite, and the reason for that was hilarious. “It’s tough to pick the top three, but I’ll pick Cincinnati because we use it for the flowers, when I buy my wife some flowers, that’s fun,” Medvedev laughed.“ “Just because I won it today, let’s put this one in the top three. But actually, I love all of them.”

A glimpse of Daniil Medvedev’s beautiful trophy collection
Daniil Medvedev turned pro in 2014 and his first ATP Tout title came at Sydney International in 2018. The next year, Medvedev won two Masters titles and reached US Open final for the first time. This year he won his favorite trophy in Cincinnati defeating Novak Djokovic in the semifinals and David Goffin in the final.
The biggest title yet for Medvedev came in the 2020 ATP Finals. In 2021 he topped it with the US Open title after defeating Novak Djokovic in the final. 2022 was relatively dull for Medvedev after losing to Rafael Nadal in the final of the Australian Open.
Tokyo, Paris, and London among others are cities where Medvedev has won a title. Now with successive titles in Rotterdam, Qatar, and Dubai, Medvedev has regained his confidence. In the rest of the 2023 season, Medvedev will hope to add a few more trophies to his stunning collection of hardware.
