Daniil Medvedev appreciated the round-robin format of the ATP Finals tournament and praised the fact that it is one of the only tournaments that gives a player a shot at redemption and offers them a chance to come back in the race for the trophy.

I think what changes is that if you lose a match, that's when you get a second chance, which doesn't happen in tennis, except in this tournament. And it's the only time.
The World No. 3 said while speaking about the ATP Finals in a discussion via We Love Tennis

Daniil Medvedev won his first ATP Finals title in 2020, defeating Dominic Thiem in the finals. He has had a bad run recently at the Paris Masters, losing out to Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 32 stages of the tournament. The 2021 US Open champion will look to come back stronger as he eyes his second ATP Finals title in Turin later this year.

Talking about how the format of the tournament still does not change the way players approach every match, Daniil Medvedev further added:

But when you enter the tournament, the best feeling is to try not to lose every match, to try to win every match possible and to get to the final like that.

Daniil Medvedev and his 2023 season so far

The 2023 US Open finalist, Daniil Medvedev, has had an impressive season so far. The Russian won two ATP Masters 1000 titles in Miami and Rome earlier this year. The World No. 3 also added two 500-level trophies at Rotterdam and Dubai this year.

The only thing missing would be the US Open, where he was defeated in the finals by 24-time Grand Slam title champion Novak Djokovic. With that being said, it seems like Daniil Medvedev will look to perform well at the ATP Finals in Turin to end the year on a good note.
