The streaming giant Netflix partnered with the ATP and WTA to release a series named The Break Point. The series shows the behind-the-scenes of the players in the ATP and WTA tours, respectively. The first season of the show was released in 2023 while the renewed season dropped on 10th January 2024.
The backdrops of various players from the tours were shown in the series. The Season 2 features various players such as Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev.
However, the Russian player Daria Kasatkina has thrashed Netflix for portraying her fellow countryman, Daniil Medvedev, as the villain. The former World No.1 was one of the main characters in the fourth episode of the Breaking Point season 2. In the episode, Alexander Zverev talks about Medvedev’s tactics to distract his opponents from the natural game.
The episode also shows certain video clips of Medvedev’s outbursts on the court as well as smashing directly at the opponents. The netizens have believed that Netflix has genuinely tried to portray Medvedev as the villain of the series.
In a tweet, his fellow countryman Daria Kasatkina has said,
In this story, I wish kids will take a “villain” as an example of a human being. Danya is the best, Netflix s*cks btw.
Is Medvedev one of the top contenders for the Australian Open?
Daniil Medvedev is undoubtedly one of the top players of the current generation. The Russian player has a good record in Melbourne Park and has reached the final twice in the last three years. However, his path to the semis this time around can be a bit tough.
The 27-year-old will start his campaign against a qualifier. However, he may face Holger Rune in the quarterfinals.
Besides, he can also be drawn with the Brisbane International champion Grigor Dimitrov. But with the experience he has, he will be expected to reach the final four of the tournaments.
