Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina recently talked about the comeback of Rafael Nadal in a recent interview and revealed that she is extremely excited for it.

The 26-year-old has always been a massive fan of the Spaniard, and she idolized him growing up. Thus, she wants to see the legend play again, as he is already in the twilight of his career.

Talking about the Spaniard’s chances in the Australian Open, Kasatkina said that he always takes time to make a comeback after being away from the court for long periods.

Thus, if that happens, it will not be uncharacteristic for Rafa, as he will definitely be back in top form eventually. Moreover, he most definitely has the knack of proving his haters wrong. 

I'm happy that he’ll come back. It's amazing how he proves it every time. Everyone writes him off, but every time he comes back like a phoenix & wins something. It's totally unbelievable. As for the prospects, I do not know, because he always needs some time after comebacks.

Kasatkina also said that, from what she’s heard, Rafael Nadal is in great shape currently, and he is training intensively. The fact that he has decided to make a comeback is itself a victory for him.

As a fan from childhood, I want to postpone the cry when your idol ends his career. I'm not in a hurry, I'd like to see more of his matches.

Daria Kasatkina admitted to being in touch with her idol upon being asked. She also said that she would like to take another photo with him soon. Probably the Russian will get that opportunity at the 2024 Australian Open.

Yes. I know him personally. But I still have the feeling that he’s my idol, my childhood idol. I still have a slight tremor, some excitement when I see him around somewhere (laughing). I would regret it if I missed this chance. And yes, I would like to take another photo with him.
She said. 

Kasatkina is currently ranked No. 18 on the WTA rankings. Her best recent performance came in the WTA 125K Zhengzhou against Barbora Krejková in the semi-final of the tournament. She is expected to start her 2024 campaign at the upcoming Australian Open, as mentioned earlier.
