World No.18 Daria Kasatkina slammed a user on Twitter (now called X) who told the WTA players to stop crying over packed schedule and low wages. The WTA players have become more and more outspoken on the demand for equal wages in comparison to their ATP counterparts. The Grand Slam events offer equal pay for both male and female players. However, the other tournaments are yet to follow in their track.

Two major issues with the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) in recent days are low wages and over-packed scheduling. These issues have taken quite a toll on the players, physically and mentally. Recently, the top 20 WTA players, excluding the Americans, had written a letter to the organization demanding a solution for these issues.

There exists a pay gap between the male and female players. However, the players are all doing their best to voice out their problems, seeking a solution. However, some people were quite critical of these demands.

Former Wimbledon referee Andrew Jarrett had demanded that the WTA players must play five sets as well, similar to their ATP counterparts if they wish for equal pay. Another such person, against the demand for equal pay had taken to X to establish their disagreements for the demands. “Because this ‘I want to pick and choose when and where to play but to be paid as if I played every single tournament week’ attitude is getting tiresome,” the user said.

The Russian professional tennis player had taken to the platform to reply to this post.

Tiresome? So you can blame players because they 'complain' and 'cry' but you are tired from what? Spending 24/7 on Twitter? Get a life.

It seems Kasatkina was absolutely infuriated with the comments on the platform as she expressed her blatant disagreement with the user.

Daria Kasatkina is not a stranger to social media activism

The Russian tennis pro has always been active on social media. She has frequently taken a stand against notions she did not agree with. Despite her nationality, she has openly established her opposition to the Russia-Ukraine war, coming out as gay around the same time.

She is one of the only few openly gay players on the tour, having participated in the first Grand Slam match between two openly gay players against Greet Minnen.

She had revealed the number of abusive messages she had received after her semifinal qualification at the WTA Elite trophy. While the Russian has always been open about her views, she has not always been received well for her activism.
