When asked about her potential interest in playing in Saudi Arabia, she referred to Nick Kyrgios‘ comments about his willingness to participate there for monetary reasons, highlighting that her concerns primarily revolve around safety. Kasatkina, who is currently the top player from Russia and 26 years old, has advanced to the third round of Wimbledon, showcasing her impressive skills on the court.

In response to the question, Kasatkina expressed her reservations about playing in Saudi Arabia, acknowledging the challenging conditions and numerous concerns surrounding the country. She found it difficult to discuss the topic, emphasizing that it is easier for male players as they feel more comfortable there.

“Well, yes, a tough condition. Many issues concerning this country. Honestly, tough to talk about. Of course it’s easier — and also they are talking with ATP. It’s easier for the men because they feel pretty good there, let’s say. We don’t feel the same way. So it’s going to be, let’s say, money talks in our world right now,” Kasatkina said.

Continuing her response, Kasatkina emphasized that she doesn’t believe everything should revolve around money. She acknowledged that certain decisions are not solely within her control or the control of individual players. Instead, they often rest in the hands of higher authorities or influential figures. Kasatkina lamented that in the current world, money holds significant sway and plays a prominent role.

She then referred back to Nick Kyrgios’ remarks, highlighting his willingness to go to Saudi Arabia for financial gain. However, she reiterated that money is not her top priority in this particular situation.

“For me, I don’t think that everything is about the money. Unfortunately not everything is dependent just on us, and particularly me, for example. So it’s in the hands of the bigger people, unfortunately. So as I said, unfortunately now in the world money talks and take very big part. Also, as Nick Kyrgios said, he would be so happy to go there just for a big check. For me, money is not No. 1, No. 1 priority in this case, for sure,” she added.
